Graham Twyford is a Cumbrian artist who is located in Barrow-In-Furness. Specialising in paintings of the Lake District, he’s also very well known locally for his paintings of Carlisle. He’s been commissioned to paint a number of subjects which are now widely produced as prints and on products from ceramics to jigsaws.
Graham has exhibited at a number of venues including the Royal Academy in London and the Lakes Artist Society, Grasmere.
From an early age he’s always taken pleasure in drawing. Graham Twyford trained at Goldsmiths College in London and graduated in Fine Art in 1979. After graduating, Graham returned to his home county of Cumbria and has been painting professionally since then. He takes influence from both British and American painting traditions. He applies similar working methods to traditions such as Hudson River School and the Luminists in his paintings of the diverse lake country.
He’s recently produced a series of paintings exploring the atmospheric effects of light in towns and cities such as Carlisle. We stock the full series of Carlisle prints available to purchase in various different sizes.
